Minatese

Minatese

The Minatese people are much more accepting of ethnic minorities due to their history. In ancient times, Minato pirates were the menace of the sea. They travelled all along the Nyappon and Hahoan coasts for thousands of years, pillaging villages. Each sailor would kidnap a woman while raiding to make their wife. The result is that Minato is extremely diverse, with over half the population being mixed races. This has also resulted in a greater acceptance of outsider cultures.

Thousands of years of coastal raiding and kidnapping foreign women have led to the Minatese to be the most accepting of outside cultures but also hated by other Nyapponese cultures.

The majority of the population is distributed in coastal cities in Minato Canton. There exists a significant subsistence farming population.

The Minatese face discrimination by other Nyappon cultures for various reasons.

  • Before the Nyappon republic, Minato pirates pillaged villages and kidnapped women from coastal villages.
  • The extreme racial diversity as a result of the previous point means that the Minatese are perceived as being partially made up of "non-Nyapponese" blood of outsiders.
