How the Kingdom Works
-
The Monarch(s) are the ultimate authority but do have advisors for the larger decisions. The Monarch chooses their advisors from a select few at the start of their service. A representative of every race is common practice.
-
The position generally goes to those of the bloodline, but if the monarch dies without an heir their chosen advisor will be crowned instead.
-
Due to the fact that many of the population of Vemus consists of refugees from the now destroyed kingdoms, there are all kinds of races and cultures within the city surrounding the kingdom.
-
Since there are only so few places where crops and livestock can be raised, farmers are held in high esteem and given priority over any other citizen’s problems. Their expertise is held in high esteem.
-
Infernal-blooded are held in high regard by the kingdom, though human religion dictates they are to be met with skepticism; the royal family’s friendship with the knight captain and her family changed perceptions for most.
-
Human religion is not really considered by Alder, he only acknowledges it for the hope of an afterlife. He finds most of the dictations of the religion to be outdated and phobic in nature, thus opts to largely ignore them.
