Basic Introduction

• The land the campaign is set in is locked in a deadly war between the bipedal races and multiple monstrous races.

• No one is quite sure when this war began, but it has destroyed every kingdom except for one. The kingdom this story is set in, Vemus

• Vemus is located in the heart of the world, having pulled all support for the other territories after losing half of their people in the war. While kingdoms around it fell, Vemus was able to keep itself out of the war.

• The king of Vemus, knowing that if faced with the monsters his kingdom would not survive, attempted to make peace with the leader of the monsters: Aferus.

• Aferus didn’t take kindly to this, seeing this as an insult to their capabilities. He and his wyverns attacked the kingdom and managed to kill the king and many of the guards before being inflicted with a curse that dulled his mind. Making him unable to coordinate and lead, thus little more than any other wild animal.

• After the death of the previous king of Vemus, the young prince Alder was crowned king under the close eye of his mother.

• Alder, taking the role seriously, focused on learning from his mother and the knight captain in the ways of rebuilding the kingdom from the ground up and ensuring the safety of their people.
