Fey Woods
History
Early History
The towns of Lagowick, Lapindell and Burrowbend were originally a singular territory. The land was purchased and owned by the Shobi family for many generations. When the Shobi family and their community first settled the land it came with some unforeseen trouble. After clearing the woodland in order to settle beneath the shadow of the mountains, it was discovered the land was plagued in some areas by high concentrations of fey creatures. Without anyway to deal with the creatures other then combat, the able-bodied of these settlers took up arms to protect each other. The Shobi's in particular, stood firm and defended their fellow-folk as they came from a deeply traditional orcish lineage.
Having firmly established these communities by the mid 1700s, the land had proved fruitful as both logging and mining communities. Eventually the two main areas were able to establish the towns of Lapindell and Burrowbend. Having owned the lands and built the towns themselves, the Shobi family held control over the region for generations. The family was so trusted for their strength by both their established town steads, that when the boarders for the state where finally recognized by the Aquila government a member of the Shobi family was voted to become governor. Who also went on to named the state Aislam, the orcish word for rabbit, in a reference to the states abundance of Jackalopes.
Lapindell and Lagowick division
Having been rewarded for their traditionalist idea of orcish heritage, in line with these beliefs that the strongest would provide and prevail in life. Those able to prove their strength worthy of inheritance would gain control of the lands. Surrounded by this traditionalist mindset, this pattern of passing the land, towns, and businesses the family had acquired over the decades. Until – Shobi decided, rather then leave one child with nothing to their name, that he would divide the land between his two children — Elaran and his sister –. Before his death, Elaran's father declared that he would be dividing their mountain settlement, Lapindell. Still remaining true to the ancient orcish traditions, he demanded that the two would settle the inheritance of the territories through a fight, only using their own strength and fists. The strongest sibling would claim the larger, wealthier half of the town. While the loosing sibling would inherit what was left.
The victor, Elaran's sister, inherited the areas known as Lapindell and Burrowbend. Burrowbend specifically being a prosperous mining town. With a even brighter future as the elements being mined from Burrowbend becoming increasingly more in demand. Rich in resources and located far from the border known as the Fey Woods.
Elaran, however, having lost the spar gained the far less desirable inheritance. An iron-rich wasteland of red sand, plagued by fey attacks due to its proximity to the Fey Woods, and nearly impossible to farm due to the lack of water and farmable soil. Living conditions were harsh and survival would be a constant struggle. This land was given the name Lagowick and Elaran was left to oversee this forsaken half of land.
In his early days of leading Lagowick, Elaran found that for years the small despondent community had struggled to maintain itself in many ways. Faced with extreme conditions making farming nearly impossible and a long history of attacks from the local fey, Lagowick as a piece of land had never turned a profit and only rarely breaking even. One of the most prominent issues plaguing the town was consistently obtaining water.

Burrowbend’s Downfall
Meanwhile, Aleran’s sister ignored their family's long-standing agreement with the fey to leave the Feywood untouched. Struggling with a severe drought, she ordered the felling of trees for water resources.
The fey retaliated, plaguing Burrowbend with disasters. Instead of admitting her mistake, she set her sights on Lagowhick, determined to reunite the towns by force, seeing how well it was doing. Giving Aleran one option, step down from leader as she is the only one to lead … or die trying to keep his ownershiop of Lagowhick
