Description

A pair of finely craft silver stork scissors. Enchanted in a way that allows users to remove curses and magical effects.
These scissors come in a wide range of designs, mostly based off different species of birds, and depending on the region they were crafted in can be either very ornate or plain. Before being attuned these scissors will not open, almost as if they've been rusted shut.

As a Bonus Action, while holding this item the user can temporarily see the presence of magic as faint colored threads attached or wrapped around individuals for up to 10ft. You learn the school of magic, if any, or if the target has been afflicted with a curse. This effect can be used even without attunement and cannot penetrate any barriers.

Once attuned, as an Action the user can spend a magic charge to cut a spell or curse effecting a target within 5ft. These scissors hold up to five charges. Each dawn these scissors will regain 1d4 charges. Using it you can remove one of the following effects.

  • Remove a Charm or Petrification effect on a target. ((2 charges required.))
  • One curse, including a targets attunement to a cursed item. ((2 charges required.))
  • Any magical reduction to a target's Ability Scores. ((1 charge required.))
  • One effect reducing a target's Hit Point maximum. ((1 charge required.))
  • Remove a condition effect. (Blinded, deafened, paralyzed, fear or poison if the effect is based in magic.) ((1 charge required.))
  • Undo one debilitating spell or magical effect. (Feeble Mind, Modify Memory, etc.) ((4 charges required.))

Setting Info

Severing Scissors are highly valued items as typically they are passed down through generations of families. Historically its said these scissors were originally used by midwives to help deliver babies and keep curses or wicked magic away from the newborns. Now-a-day versions of these scissors can be bought by anyone, but the most valued and arguably the most powerful are the antique pairs with a long history of use.
