Skypierced
Servants of Zepharos, Primordial of Wind and Storm
The Skypierced are manifestations and mortals reshaped by the unrelenting power of Zepharos, the Stormborne, Primordial of wind, lightning, and sky. Their bodies shimmer with electrical pulses, their eyes burn like thunderheads, and their voices hum with crackling static. Once human or elemental in origin, the Skypierced now exist in a state between matter and energy—flesh tempered by lightning, purpose forged in the howling winds of the eastern deserts.
Born in violent storms or created through exposure to relic shards infused with Zepharos’s essence, they ride the lightning and command the skies. Some are worshiped as demi-gods in hidden temples, others roam the skylands and stormfronts as vengeful arbiters. Most are utterly loyal to the Primordial, but a few remember lives before the storm.
Beliefs & Legends
The Skypierced follow ancient tenets whispered in thunderclaps:
- “The Sky Knows No Chain” – Freedom is sacred; to be bound is to die.
- “Truth is Thunder” – Lies unravel in the storm; clarity comes when the winds tear away illusion.
- “Storm is the Final Judge” – Conflict reveals true purpose. Strength, speed, and will are all tested in the storm.
In Vhar-Khazel, the Skypierced are sometimes called Vaeljin, or Sky’s Curse—feared spirits believed to punish broken oaths or hubris.
Portfolio of Powers and Abilities
- Stormstep – Teleport short distances in a blink of static, leaving only the scent of ozone.
- Tempest Mantle – Surrounds the Skypierced in a swirling shield of wind that deflects arrows and slows incoming projectiles.
- Thunderbrand – Their weapons hum with stored kinetic energy, discharging explosive bursts on impact.
- Chainlightning Call – Arc bolts between targets, especially in metal-laden environments or rain.
- Skyshard Summon – Call down razor fragments of storm-forged crystal from cloudbanks above.
- Static Drift – Slow-fall or hover for brief durations; some can even sprint through the air during lightning strikes.

Tempestrider Nimble shock troops who glide above the battlefield, unleashing chained strikes from twin stormblades.

Galehound Quadrupedal or avian-hybrid shock beasts with howling maws that emit sonic blasts. Run faster than sound.

Echoblade Assassins who strike from impossible angles, riding gusts and illusions of movement. Cut soundlessly through air.

Storm-Kin Warden Towering sentinels clad in jagged cloudmetal and skyglass. Defend relic sites or storm-gates, emit thunderbursts with every swing.
