The Plan
Reincarnatio is a fantasy story that is planned to be an Action RPG. But if that proves too ambitious it will be repurposed into a 3d animated series.
Gameplay
Reincarnatio is going to be a real time RPG with focus on button inputs and timing for attacks and special moves which will spice up the monotony of modern RPG combat. The enemy will have a countdown until they attack. In the meantime the player has free control to use menus and use one action on a character per turn. The currently selected party member will stand in front of the others and be directly in front of the enemy. There are three main ways a party member can avoid damage: Dodging, Blocking, and Parrying. A perfect dodge will cause an attack to miss and is key to activating certain passive skills and attacks. Blocking is the easiest as the character will block with their weapon, however due to it's simplicity enemy damage will still chip away at a percentage of the character's hp. Parrying is only an option if the character can Block, a successful parry will allow the character to counterattack or trigger a passive skill, a parry is triggered when the player blocks just before an attack connects to the character.
Exploration
With the story's emphasis on Adventure exploration will also be a major focal point of the game design. Since development is planned to be done solo the explorable areas will be about medium in size and will focus on being interconnected with shortcuts and mechanisms that will allow the player to quickly backtrack or skip farther in the area. Areas will likely have loading zones to transition from area to area for development simplicity as well as to increase performance. In important parts of the story the player will need to traverse through Dungeons/Temples. These are going to be puzzle based and follow a unique gimmick tied to said dungeon. The Dungeons will almost always lead to a boss fight or a climax of some storyline at the end.
Optional Content
Reincarnatio will feature optional questlines that follow NPCs and other important characters which will always reward the player for doing the questlines. The questlines will follow one of the Party as well as the NPC/Character in focus and use their dynamic to tell a story or explore the world. Rewards for completing the questline will usually be: Accessing a new part of the map, rewards with new or upgraded skills for the main party to use, equipment for the party to change their playstyle/role, and in rare cases some of these characters can be summonable for fights. The summonable side characters will only be limited to 2 per main party member and these will usually be those closest to the main characters regardless of whether the characters met in the main plot or in the optional questline only.
