(Name) follows an older magical tradition–that of bardic/chanter inspiration. Often dismissed as mere minstrel play, this form of magicks has fallen out of fashion. But a few families still hold these practices close.

These practitioners believe in and follow an old legend*…

Esperia's original Score began like this: a multitude of ascended beings, having foreseen their world's final notes, fled from its destruction amid their failing dominion. Outside of the clutches of their world's paradigm, they were carried through the Great Silence.

It was difficult for these beings to stay cogent without mass for Gravity—until they found a pinprick of hope within the void. A seed of starlight, calling them towards the chaotic mass of energy that would eventually become Esperia. A leftover cluster of divine scraps, this nascent world was a roiling sea of untethered Essence, an energy with immense potential but no direction or structure…

(something something something…)

When the gods quarrel, mortals do so in kind, and everyone (and everything) loses.

One entity survived: a humble god of people, culture and music, who, in mourning, began a dirge to recreate the world they had loved and lost the only way they knew how–with music. In their anguish, the notes Satinov played rekindled the sparks of their fellow gods, drawing them out from the cosmic flotsom.

They would not remember, but Satinov could not forget.

So long as the world turns, the gestalt song will be played.

and, so where the primary backing for music magic is: People are culture, and culture is people; and across them, music can be heard. Get enough people in one place, and you can decide a lot.

Chanter play to this idea–they speak to the magic of the world through song, performing Phrases, Invocations, and Songs. They stir the collective memory of wayward energies, compelling them to generate magical effects in a kind of "reenactment".
