Artistes Sylvie Barbier, Paz Perlman et Laetitia Donoma vous invitent samedi 27 août à côté de Thénac pour une exposition interactive sur le thème de l’art à la rencontre de l’Eco-spiritualité.

Petits et grands sont les bienvenus pour cet après-midi artistique. Entrée libre avec donation pour les artistes. Un dîner en mode auberge espagnole sera proposé à la fin.

[English] Artists Sylvie Barbier, Paz Perlman and Laetitia Donoma warmly invite you on Saturday 27 August for an event on the theme of art and eco-spirituality.

Adults and children are both welcome for this afternoon of art and performance on Saturday 27 August from 16h00 close to Thenac. Entry is free with the option to donate for the artists. A pot-luck dinner will take place after the event.

Quelle est la fonction de l'art ? Quel rôle joue l'artiste?

C’est élever l’esprit humain, c’est révéler le lien existant dans la vie. Donc, bien entendu, l’art est lié à la spiritualité. L’art et le religieux n’ont jamais été séparés, et cette séparation est une illusion, l’idée que l’humanité est séparée de la nature est aussi une illusion. Nous avons besoin de guérir de cette séparation. Notre souffrance provient de l’illusion de la séparation. Nous continuons à porter le traumatisme de la première séparation de l’enfant d’avec sa mère. Comment renouer avec la mère de tous ? la vie elle-même, la force créatrice en nous ?

Ce parcours de guérison est une métamorphose, une transformation qui nous attend, car la crise écologique à laquelle nous sommes confrontés est avant tout une crise spirituelle. La guerre présente à nos portes est aussi une crise de la foi. Pouvons-nous avoir foi en nos démocraties ? Pouvons-nous avoir foi en l’humanité pour faire face aux défis de la crise climatique ? Nous le devons, car ce n’est que dans notre unité avec la terre et l’humanité que nous pouvons transformer le cours de l’histoire. Alors, que devons-nous abandonner pour que l’avenir ait une chance?

About the artists

Sylvie ‘Shiwei’ Barbier is a French-Taiwanese artist. Her work synthesizes Eastern and Western philosophies and aesthetics. She is also the co-founder of Life Itself, an organization dedicated to practical action for a radically wiser, weller world. https://sylviebarbier.com

Paz Perlman is an artist whose art is forged from the crucible of life’s experiences, shaped by war, loss, and migration. This has created an urge, through her works, to heal the space where time and events leave their traces and scars; a fragile and unfolding process of discovery. https://www.pazperlman.com/

Laetitia Donoma works with immersive music as a transformative and healing tool. She guides and leads her therapies through work around the voice, singing and self expression. https://laetitiadonoma.com/

What is the function of art? What role does the artist play?

It is to elevate the human spirit, it is to reveal the existing connection between all of life. So, of course, art is related to spirituality. Art and religion were never seperate, and this separation is an illusion. The concept that humanity is separate from nature is an illusion. We are in need of healing from this separation. Our suffering arises from the illusion of separation. We continue to carry the trauma of the first separation of the infant from the mother. How do we reconnect with the mother of all: Life Itself, the creative force within us?

This healing journey is a metamorphosis, a transformation which awaits us, because the ecological crisis we face is first of all a spiritual crisis. The war present at our doorstep is also a crisis of faith. Can we have faith in our democracies? Can we have faith in humanity to face the challenges of the climate crisis? We must, because it is only in our oneness with earth and humanity that we can transform the course of history. So what do we need to let go, so that the future gets a chance?
